Can I persuade you to share the examples you mention of the difference between constructive and destructive communication? My experience with NVC is all second hand, but the people I know who have taken a course seem delighted with what they have learned and say it makes their lives easier and more productive.
I've picked up that respecting people's needs is a core concept, and sometimes I think I can tell when others have had the training. This idea also fits with Jared Kass's fourth item: honing our conflict resolution skills.
