This could indeed be a wonderful tool for URI regions and/or interest groups to come together in deep dialogue.
Personally, I am not drawn to women's issues and would prefer a topic more along the lines of how interfaith cooperation can help shift the focus of our global culture from one centered on consumption to one centered on cooperation. Our national govenrments seem able to cooperate only economics or defense - or when disaster strikes. What would it be like to live in a world where we really shared across cultures the best of what each has to offer?
How can we engage the ideals of our faith traditions to address the great issues of our times, including the challenges of climate change, the persistence of hunger, how to shift to renewable energy sources, preserving the voices of the indigenous, eliminating nuclear weapons, the empowerment of women, the inclusion of youth in decision making, the need for a new kind of education, and finding a path to nonviolence and mutual respect as a global community?
The United Nations addresses all of these topics through the lens of the nation state. How can we use our Voices of Humanity to build a shining culture of peace across a healthy, vibrant and verdant planet?
May Peace Prevail on Earth.
