We have decided to use the social media as our springboard, the big proprietary social media: Facebook, Twitter, G+. I realize this is not popular with some, but I do agree with the Steering Committee consensus that it is the smart pragmatic way to go even for free open source software such as InterMix with its AGPL license.
I have discussed with Flemming Funch, our programmer, and it might be possible to implement automatic tweeting before the end of September.
I worry about tweeting everything, though. All we need is for one person to start tweeting a bunch of garbage as coming from The Steering Committee and I dunno what? We get shut out by Twitter? Anyway it won't be pretty. What I propose, therefore, is that we tweet only items that receive at least one or two positive ratings by someone other than their author. Any thoughts?
Also, please notice that our short summary, which is what we will tweet along with a bit.ly link to the item itself, is only 106 characters. Even with the bit.ly link that leaves room for a hash tag or two. I would like advice, please, from those who know how twitter hash tags work. I will look into it as well, but hashtags are not second nature for me as they must be for many of you here in the Steering Committee.
Thanks, all.
