As many of you know, we took peace to the party. In 2012, the California Peace Alliance worked with the California Democratic Party (CDP) to infuse the Party Platform with peacebuilding measures. In July 2013, the CDP passed a "Resolution in Support of Peacebuilding" and endorsed the U.S. Department of Peacebuilding Act of 2013 (DoP/ HR 808), which will establish a cabinet-level department with a Secretary of Peacebuilding.
Now for the Congressional peace -- at the upcoming CDP Executive Board meeting in Millbrae, CA, the CA Peace Alliance will work with the CDP to urge our CA members of Congress to embrace peace by cosponsoring Congressmember Barbara Lee's legislation to establishment of a U.S. Department of Peacebuilding.
We need your help during the weekend of 11/22/13 - 11/24/13, especially on 11/23/13 any time between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm. Please join us at our Executive Board booth to network and to assist with phone calls and letters to members of Congress. The Executive Board meeting is at the Westin San Francisco Airport, 1 Old Bayshore Highway, Millbrae, CA 94030. Ask where the CDP Executive Board is meeting and look for the CA Peace Alliance booth. We look forward to working with any who can come to the San Francisco Bay area from throughout California.
