Hello Intermix !

Roger, Savanna, and I had a productive meeting this morning were we decided to focus in on getting the details of IWD 2014 settled. Two tasks: ahead of us are to find speakers for the event and to find funding.

To adress the first task: I contacted Professor Nan Amelia Boyd with an email as follows

Hello Professor Boyd,

My name is Kathryn Zychowicz. I took your class on San Francisco Spring semester 2012. You also might remember me because I am a lifeguard/ swim instructor at Sava Pool were I occasionally run into you during masters swim. I also made the connection with another former student/friend who speaks very highly of you and noted that your work in the women's community is outstanding.

I am contacting you because I am coordinating a Women's Day event under the UN Association chapter of San Francisco for March 8th. The event will consist of a panel of speakers that will discuss different issues affecting women. So far we are working with Eva at Casa De La Madres to discuss domestic violence issues and Shani Winston at the Women's center to come and speak.

Right now the project is young and we are trying to pool all of our resources and expertise together. I am wondering if you have you done any particular research/ experience that you might be able to present for our March 8th conference ? I understand that you are very busy especially at the beginning of the school year, however I would love to meet with you to discuss points of view and possible involvement.

Let me know if you are interested.

Check out our website for more information about the organization we are associated with:

Look forward to hearing from you,

Kathryn Zychowicz

Dear Abbott Laboratories,

My name is Kathryn Zychowicz, and I am contacting you today on behalf of the United Nations Association Chapter in San Francisco California. I am working on a project under UNA-SF that hopes to raise awareness to women's rights through utilizing social media channels as well as interpersonal outreach. As a portion of our outreach we are organizing a women's day event for March 8th that will bring speakers from across the bay area to present at a conference at San Francisco State University. So far we are collaborating with Casa De Las Madres and the Women's Center of San Francisco that are both local organizations providing tools and resources to women who are victims to domestic violence.

I appreciate that your corporation is making steps towards fair and equal treatment of women. Almost half of Abbott employees are women and 33% of the top 20% salary are women as well. In addition, your corporation respects women in that it offers paid maternity leave for both parents.

Because Abbott has exhibited dedication to fair treatment of women, I believe Abbott Laboratories would be an excellent endorsement for our cause. Donations will go towards; renting the location of the conference, advertising, refreshments and our lovely speakers. Even a small amount will be greatly appreciated and can be mailed in check form to:

United Nations Association of San Francisco

911 Sir Fancisco Drake Blvd. Kentfield, CA

94904

(With IWD 2014 in the notes section)

Remember that all donations are tax-deductible and will include an Abbott logo on all advertising materials for the event. If you have any questions concerning the event do not hesitate to contact myself or Roger Eaton. If you have questions about payment please contact: pablo.castro@una-sf.org. Thank you for your time, your promt response is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Kathryn Zychowicz

The letter will be in formal letterhead with the United Nationans Association's logo at the top of the page. I could not figure out how to attatch documents to a post so I had to copy and paste, which explains the awkward spaces ect... However you can get the gist of the letter and let me know before I send it out I want it to be as proof-read as possible. The companies that have exhibited noteable dedication to the womens movement that will receive this letter are as follows:

Dove

Facebook

Secret

Aetna

General Mills

Liz Claiborne

Marriot

Gannett

Please feel free to add any companies to the list and use the letter as a format. I look forward to being a part of the womens movement that is only going to grow as we progress into 2014. Thank you and happy new years everyone !
