Hmmm… Priorities towards the total abolition of nuclear weapons. That means North Korea, Israel, Pakistan and India have to be persuaded, and of course the five permanent members of the UN Security Council each with a veto over UN action. From that point of view, the only way forward is for a powerful global citizens movement to arise and for all humanity to realize it is one as well as many. Let’s keep that in mind (;-), but there is another intriguing possibility. Might the gender divide perhaps trump the national and religious divisions?
When women of different nations and religions address the great issues of our time, they are able to cooperate. I like to say we are half-way there! So my suggestion is to create a Women’s Voices for a World Free of Nuclear Weapons Multiple Cooperation Circle (MCC) and a parallel Men’s Voices for a World Free of Nuclear Weapons MCC. Then we set up online facilities for the two MCCs to work together along with the current Voices CC to reach out to houses of worship everywhere.
