As many of you know, Rotary’s relationship with the United Nations dates back to 1945 when some 49 Rotary members acted as delegates, advisors, and consultants at the United Nations Charter Conference in San Francisco. Rotary and the United Nations have a long history of working together and sharing similar visions for a more peaceful world.
Today, on behalf of the United Nations Association of Marin, I invite you to attend the Marin premiere of the film Femme: Women Heal= ing the World, to be shown at the Rafael Film Center, 1118 Fourth Street, San Rafael, on Thursday, March 6th at 7:00 p.m. in celebration of International Women’s Day, which is an officia= l holiday in countries from Afghanistan to Zambia.
Both the United Nations and Rotary have seen firsthand what a vital role=20 women play in improving conditions within families, communities, and= =20 countries. This film, featuring women ranging from actress Sharon Sto= ne to Nobel Laureates Shirin Ebadi and Malread Maguire, highlights how=20 much progress we have made, and how much more there is to do.
I encourage you to make an effort to attend this film and the discussion afterward. Ladies, come to reflect on our accomplishments and to be inspired. Gentlemen, come because you love women…and because you wouldn’t be here without us.
Tickets are $10.75 , Seniors & Youth $7.50, CFI Members $6.50. For additional inform= ation, see the attached flyer, visit http://cafilm.org/rfc/films/1986.html&nbs= p; or call 415.454.1222.
