InterMix is our "continuous communication" - please learn to use it

Dear Core Collaborators,

Well, we had a good meeting the evening of the 25th.  My memory is not the greatest, so if I have things wrong, please correct me.  And most importantly, let this be the beginning of a continuing conversation using InterMix.  I will be posting two messages to our Core Collaborators subgroup. This first message is about how to reply to an InterMix message.  The second message will be my take on our meeting.  I hope everyone will reply to that message, just to get the ball rolling.

Our InterMix list for UNA SF Bay COO has 85 people on it.  Of these 13 are in our Core Collaborators subgroup: Jim Barnett, Pablo Castro, Cathy Corcoran, Roger Eaton, Scott Haeger, Antonia Lavine, Doug Merritt, Mary Jane Mikuriya, Orlando Raola, Trilight Tom Ray, Eduardo Ramirez, Brian Webster and Elizabeth Weinberg.

When we post a message in our Core Collaborators InterMix subgroup, the message is emailed only to the current membership of the subgroup.  However, any member of the larger COO list can access the subgroup messages online if they want to do that.  The idea is to preserve transparency while at the same time protecting the larger list from being bombarded by unwanted emails.  As we go along, we will set up other subgroups for our various committees.

To reply to any InterMix message including this one,

1) click on the title of the message in the email you receive that carries the message.  You will be taken online to the message.

2) You may have to click the title again online to open up the message.

3) To reply, click the “reply” link at the bottom.

4) Fill in the box with your reply.  It is OK to play with the buttons at the top of the box where you are replying to see what they do.

5) It is OK to change the subject line of your reply if you want to.

6) The first couple lines of your message are automatically copied to the smaller box underneath where you are typing.  You can edit this short message to give a good idea what your reply is about so people know if they want to expand your message to read the whole thing.

7) Then click “Save”.

8) You can go back and edit your message after you have “Saved” it by clicking the “edit” link at the bottom of the published message.

9) Please notice that everything you write in InterMix is potentially available to the public and that you are giving permission for the public to use what you write so long as they point back to your original on InterMix.

Replies always go in the same subgroup as the message you are replying to.

It may seem hard at first to use InterMix, but please invest in it.  It will get easier to use quickly and will repay over the long run, I am sure.

atb,
