Dear UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka,
Women and girls around the world are dying from lack of adequate medical care, especially during childbirth.
I wanted to bring this to your attention in hopes that there might be a way to offer assistance to them as a way of treading carefully into the deeply rooted social mores of their cultures (which may parlay into gender inequality). By starting with basic health needs that divert unnecessary deaths, I believe this will bring to light the most important and larger conversation to a global stage, which is: Women and girls are not given enough support to survive. This is not only a gender rights issue but a human rights issue.
I hope you will help to bring attention and get medical care to the women and girls who need it most.
Sincerely,
Alexis Cohen
