US State Department sponsored African Lawyers and Judges to observe how the USA handles domestic violence. These highly educated women were on a panel in San Francisco reporting in an amazed disbelief seeing police men and police women taking men to jail for domestic violence. They said that would not happen in their country. We in the audience wondered if there were enough laws to protect women against violence. These observers reported there were laws but the laws were not enforced. I began to look at police differently until I saw the San Francico police, the sherrif and district attorney referred to as Law Enforcement.
Perhaps equity for women requires the protective laws be enforced. The laws against domestic violence be enforced. As one panelist observed the law in her country say that men can have only one wife but newly elected president has 2 wives. Which wife will he take to his inauguration or will he take both wives?
