I think "multiple local and international social, environmental, and political issues" is too vague.
Actually our General Purpose statement from the bylaws seems pretty good - here it is slightly tweaked to include our full name.
- The San Francisco Chapter of the United Nations Association of the USA is dedicated to educating, inspiring and mobilizing people to support the principles and vital work of the United Nations, strengthening the United Nations system, promoting constructive United States leadership in that system, and achieving the goals of the United Nations.
And here are two options from Victoria:
- The mission of the United Nations Association of San Francisco is to engage, inspire, and inform the diverse communities of the San Francisco Bay Area about multiple local and international social, environmental, and political issues through education, public events, and the advocacy of global peace.
- The mission of the United Nations Association of San Francisco is to engage, inspire, and inform the diverse communities of the San Francisco Bay Area on the United Nations role within multiple local and international social, environmental, and political issues through education, public events, and the advocacy of global peace.

Here is a suggested combination:
- The mission of the United Nations Association of San Francisco is to engage, inspire, and mobilize the diverse communities of the Bay Area to support the principles and vital work of the United Nations, to strengthen the United Nations system, and to promote constructive U.S. leadership in that system.
If you prefer to participate via email, please send me your suggestions and I will post them here.
