The Tender-Eye-Zing Quality of Compassion
There is a kind of forgiveness that yet holds onto the memory of the hurtful action.
Thus the deep feelings associated with those moments remain stored within the intellect,
and the emotional center of the Heart.
And as long as memories of the offensive actions remain within
one’s mind and Heart, at any future moment, the feelings associated
with that time and place can easily rise again to the surface.
Then the words, that one had offered of forgiveness,
will be instantly forgotten, and withdrawn.
In this way, time and again, one’s unresolved memories
will bear the bitter fruit of unforgiveness --
Only the quality of Compassion can yield
an ever-lasting forgiveness.
For the Light of Compassion illuminates
not only the deed, but the Inner Heart
with-in those who have erred :
Through the tender-eye-zing Quality of Compassion,
That which was hidden becomes known,
and in this depth of understanding,
remorse and pain can vanish –
and we find
that they have been replaced
with a Life-Giving forgiveness,
and the warmth of Grace.
