Ask the Senate to ratify the UN Disabilities Treaty
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) – a treaty that was only 5 votes away from being ratified in the Senate in December 2012 - officially advanced out of the Senate Foreign Relations committee by a vote of 12-6. Let’s make sure it goes to the Senate floor before lawmakers adjourn for the August recess!
This international treaty, which was modeled after our very own Americans with Disabilities Act, provides a framework for countries to embrace the rights and dignity for all people with disabilities – an issue that the U.S. had always been considered a leader on.
Join us in expanding rights for the 1 Billion people around the world who are living with disabilities by sending the note below to your Senators.
