Roger,
That may have been me, and much as I’d love to I can’t take credit for the original thought (I believe it was Marie Wilson and the “30% solution” she advanced as the minimum to make a difference)!
Here’s how I word it, and one could argue that it applies to all settings of influence: One woman is a token; two, a coffee klatch; three women change the conversation.
I’m working to get minimum 30% women in technical/STEM jobs through our new nonprofit FemResources (almost ready with the website...). Right now, the numbers of women in tech hover at average 17%. With 30%+, we believe the culture around technology that favors men, will start to change.
Hope to see some of you at UN CSW59 next week! I’m with the delegation from San Francisco, through Women’s Intercultural Network/WIN and US Women Connect.
