Dear UN Women Executive Director Mlambo-Ngcuka,
In our fight for gender equality, we are failing to reach the most essential demographic: young men. It is they who their young sons and daughters will look to for a perception of women. It is they who are entering our discriminatory work force and engaging with civilian women on the battlefronts. It is they who court young women and who must treat their bodies and minds with respect. So far, efforts to have them join our call for respect and dignity have fallen flat. Emma Watson, a significant proponent for male support and spokeswoman for the #HeForShe campaign, can only do so much. What efforts are being done across cultures to reach this influential group who will mold the perception of future generations of women? How do we make them more effective?
