Dear UN Women Executive Director Mlambo-Ngcuka,
I live and work in The Bahamas, focusing on gender equality. We, like many other countries, have signed onto CEDAW - as well as many other conventions and declarations - but it does not seem as thought governments are truly held accountable for the commitments. We are approaching a gender equality referendum to make significant changes to our constitution which can result in women having the same rights to pass on citizenship as men, and making "sex" a prohibited ground for discrimination. The general public is largely confused about these bills, CEDAW, human rights, and women's rights. We are in great need of UN intervention, training, and educational campaigning. Your support in our efforts to educate and engage the public for this critical issues would not only be welcome, but appreciated greatly.
