UNA-SF Council of Organizations is sponsoring:
United Nations 70th Anniversary Philosopher's Way Trail Hike
Sunday, June 28, 2015, 12 noon - 4pm
John McLaren Park
Meet in parking lot at the corner of Visitacion Ave and Mansell St.
2301-2479 Visitacion Ave, San Francisco, CA 94134
Bring a lunch bag.
The 2.7 mile hike is a real treat and those who are unfamiliar with McLaren Park will be most pleasantly surprised. We will take our time, but the trail is not paved for most of the way and not suitable for the handicapped or the very old.
Nathaniel Paluga will be our host as we pause at each musing station for a little discussion / education on the topic of the United Nations. The focus will be on the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which will be distributed to each hiker at the beginning of the hike as a reference document for the philosophizing. During the stops hikers may participate by reading aloud portions of the UN Declaration and are welcome to share their philosophical perspectives on it.
The musing stations are represented as circles on the trail in the map below.
Contact Nathaniel Paluga (drpaluga@gmail.com) or Roger Eaton (rogerweaton@gmail.com) if you have questions or simply to let us know you are planning to do the hike.
June 26, 2015 will be the 70th anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter at the War Memorial Building in Civic Center, San Francisco.
