Thank you for dropping by, David!

Certainly not at present. However, I would not discount the effect of a new sense of human unity underpinned by a global consciousness. In a chaotic system such as the nation-state world we live in, with its capitalistic economy, any change tends to be pulled back into the current "basin of attraction". That is, the system is resilient even though chaotic, which, as I understand it, is normal for systems that are far from equilibrium as our world is. However, if a change is such that it pushes the system into a novel basin of attraction, getting it over the hump, so to speak, then big changes happen fast as everything adjusts to a new normal.

A global consciousness is what underlies the work of the United Nations, whose Sustainable Development Goals are astounding. To get there by 2030 will require a massive shift towards international cooperation. So we see from this example how powerful a global consciousness is, even when only prevalent with UN folks. Imagine if we had a widespread global consciousness such as Voices of Humanity can create!

Still, even a global consciousness with a heartfelt sense of human unity does not seem quite sufficient to me. I am guessing, though, so maybe we can avoid the bad news after all as our new sense of humanity as our ally provides a "salutary shock".  But if not, then we can readily forecast many not so salutary shocks coming our way, any one of which, if we are ready for it, could quickly bring a massive Global Citizens Movement into being.
