Order Out of Chaos - The Great Transition
sum

Human unity is the key. Go for the global win-win. Us vs them is a lose-lose formula.

The world, our world, Planet Earth is in trouble, a trouble of our own making. Humanity, by a combination of population growth and an us vs them global economy, has overstepped Nature’s limits. Civilization as it goes is not sustainable and will collapse, and in the non-linear way of things, all too likely sooner rather than later.

The nations see the need to cooperate, but with nuclear weapons at the ready, how can they trust each other? The religions share the Golden Rule, but they also incubate hard-liners with an ethos of hate and fear. Civil society is largely trapped in the international system that is failing us; NGO leaders realize how important cooperation is and are moving in that direction, but their need to raise money and maintain organizational control makes cooperation difficult. And business is largely caught up in the global competition to pillage Planet Earth. To make matters worse, the ultra-nationalist backlash against globalization signified by Trump and Brexit has scotched any possibility the world had of muddling through.

In short, we are destroying the natural systems that sustain us and our social systems are in chaotic disarray, unable to handle the situation. It looks bad, but humanity still has a major resource we can deploy: the power of the individual. We can make the difference. The internet gives us an opening to build massive consensus at the global level and then bring that consensus home to our metros, cities, towns.

On the positive side, humanity and the individual are natural allies against the excesses and follies of the nations and religions. Importantly, the global women’s movement already transcends the nations and religions. Also working in our favor is the obvious fact that we have crossed a threshold into the planetary phase of human history. Our future is either a cooperative win-win for everyone or an us-vs-them lose-lose. Hundreds of millions of us are aware of this transition. Necessity is on our side.

At our “Order Out of Chaos - The Great Transition” meetups in San Francisco we will be exploring how we might build an overwhelming global movement for human unity. As organizer of the meetup I am going to be making a case for the Voices of Humanity Social Media (VoH) as a way forward. Please bring your own ideas how we might proceed.

Briefly, Voices of Humanity allows us to vote on messages with breakout by gender, age, geographic level (from city to metro to state to nation to Planet Earth), and community of interest. At each new moon, winning messages are elected by humanity-as-one, women, men, youth, middle-aged and seniors. These winning messages will be emailed to all participants, beginning at the new moon of March 27, 2017. That doesn’t give us a lot of time to get going.

At our meetups we will explore the possibility of selecting one of the winning messages for follow-up action. In this way, we can begin building a Nonviolent Action Arm for the global Voices of Humanity community. The expectation is that the Nonviolent Action Arm will evolve into a global citizens movement, which in turn will underpin The Great Transition to a peaceful, just, sustainable and prosperous world.

If you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, please join us on Thursday evening February 16, 2017. Time: 6:00pm to 8pm. Venue: Crossroads Cafe 699 Delancey St, San Francisco, CA 94107. The food is good and inexpensive - sandwiches. Delancey Street Foundation also has a restaurant around the corner on the Embarcadero, but we will be meeting at the Cafe on Delancey St.

There is no wifi at the cafe, so you might want to check out VoH ahead of the meeting: Voices of Humanity: In the conversation between the communities of Planet Earth, women and men will use their collective voices to persuade the nations to cooperate. A kindly and intelligent human unity with gender-equality and respect for diversity built-in is ours for the taking!!! Your participation could make the difference.

Thank you so much and see you Thursday evening, Feb 16 at the Crossroads Cafe in San Francisco. Please feel free to contact me by text, phone or email.
