Sowmya Ayyar, one of our @vohcc charter members has suggested I post a list of simple tasks we might take on to get us going now that we are accepted as a URI CC.
I suggest we reach out in our areas and each of us bring in at least one new member. Let's aim to double our membership by September 21, 2017, International Day of Peace. Please have the new members email me at rogerweaton@gmail.com with "vohcc" in the title of the email.
Here are two areas we might concentrate on:
1) Welfare of children - this is always local, but we can build a global network.
2) Nuclear disarmament - this is always global, but we can spark local interest. If you have contact with Mussie Hailu, please write to him. He has a long standing interest in Mayors for Peace, and would be a great addition to our CC.
Also we need Muslim participants. In my own outreach, I will concentrate on bringing in Muslims.
