A short poem for 2018

A hawk dwindles in the wintry sun
Escaping thoughts on the run
Convictions released from overcrowded cells
Parachutists out on bail.

Will we stoop and prey
Or will we glide to earth that day?
Peace descend upon the hills
Next year never back to jail!
