We are aiming for a massive action oriented global nuclear disarmament movement.
Here are three ideas for action:
Write a letter to the editor about nuclear disarmament. Be sure to send it in to the publication, but even if it is not printed, post your letter here in Voices of Humanity with the #nuclear_disarm hashtag.
Reach out to friends, neighbors, schoolmates and see if there is interest in having an umbrella march on Hiroshima day, August 6. What is an umbrella march? Simple - everyone brings their umbrella to the march, rain or shine. Be sure to get photos to post here in our nuclear disarmament community on VoH. Why umbrellas? Because everyone everywhere in the world has an umbrella. So we can easily make the umbrella march a symbol of a global movement for disarmament. If people ask, tell them the idea is to keep off the fallout!
Post a photo of yourself smiling for nuclear disarmament or scowling against nuclear weapons. Be sure to say a few words to go with your photo. Use the #smile4nd hashtag. Post on Instagram, facebook, twitter and of course here in Voices of Humanity. Let’s make this hashtag take off!
Issac Thomas of the Global Youth Movement (GYM) based in India is onboard as our second co-moderator for the nuclear disarmament community. He and I will be posting ideas for local actions that will strengthen our sense of togetherness globally. Please everyone, add your thoughts.
This post is going out to the full Voices of Humanity list in hopes that more people will join the nuclear_disarm community. We are aiming to have members from 1000+ cities by the end of 2018 so please be sure you have provided your nation and city in your profile.
All the best,
