Re: Latest IPCC Global Warming report - 1.5 degrees or bust

This has been the case since Global Warming was first brought to public attention in the early 80s.  The reality has always turned out worse than the most pessimistic projections.  This seems to be partly because the science was not fully understood, and partly because scientists don't want to jeopardize their funding and reputations by taking extreme positions.  I know some scientists who believe human civilization has less than 20 years left, and mass extinction will follow that in a matter of years, not decades.  The whole phenomenon of "scientific reticence," as it's been called, is very well described in this essay  https://guymcpherson.com/climate-chaos/climate-change-summary-and-update/   which explains the best science on global warming.  It's depressing.
