I agree with Richard Branson's post yesterday:
The world is thinking of the brave people of Ukraine and their armed forces who are putting up one hell of a fight against the Russian invasion force. The least all of us can do is to make sure Putin and those around him pay the price for their aggression.
Sanctions announced so far by the UK, EU & US are welcomed & mark a step in the right direction. But now we must go further. Russia’s leadership, institutions & economy must feel the full force of sanctions. It’s time for the next level, including cutting Russia off from SWIFT.
UK took the first step in banning AEROFLOT from UK airspace. All European countries should follow suit. Private Russian aircraft should also be banned from European airspace.
Putin must be held accountable for his actions – for initiating a war of aggression (crimes against peace) and possibly for targeting civilians, too (war crimes). At very least, he should not be allowed to travel, his assets should be frozen or seized, including his prized yacht.
In many Russian cities, brave anti-war protesters are being rounded up and prosecuted. Good to see tens of thousands in cities around the free world take to the streets in support of Ukraine.
