I’ve just recently become acquainted with a long standing San Francisco non-profit the National Equal Justice Association (NEJA). NEJA is currently focused on the 17 UN SDG’s, and always has an eye out to support projects that will aid the marginalized and disadvantaged people in the area. They are always looking for and using volunteers in their work. The staff is all volunteer. Very definitely worth a look. See https://www.nationalequaljusticeassociation.com.
One of NEJA’s focal points is the importance of maintaining wildlife and biodiversity. For those who haven’t realized it, humanity is on a path to destroy planet earth and ourselves with it. There needs to be a tremendous turnaround so we take the path towards protecting planet earth and ourselves as part of it. One of the NEJA Bulletin articles pointed me to the Kunming Declaration
Declaration from the High-Level Segment of the UN Biodiversity Conference 2020 (Part 1) under the theme: “Ecological Civilization: Building a Shared Future for All Life on Earth” (Final Draft). See https://www.cbd.int/doc/c/df35/4b94/5e86e1ee09bc8c7d4b35aaf0/kunmingdeclaration-en.pdf.
This is an amazing document. What I discovered following up on the topic of biodiversity is that The Rio de Janeiro Convention on Biological Diversity is a global treaty that entered into force in 1993, and that it has 193 signatory nations, not including the United States. Once again the U.S. has failed in its international duties. It is the usual story of Republicans blocking ratification by a two-thirds majority in the Senate.
