In case it might be of use, the Creative Transitions Collection created a large (very large!) list of articles taken from magazines that report on research carried out in “ivory towers”, many which are hidden behind pay-walls.

The bibliography also features some reports and news articles.  It is a potentially useful tool, with articles set out under various headings.
