The MIC, bankers, globalists and the Israel lobby want war. We don't.

American friends, take your choice! Vote Democrat for proxy wars on Russia, as in Ukraine. Or vote Republican for proxy wars on China, like through Taiwan or Xinjiang. Either way, you get to support your #1 proxy, Israel, in its war on the Muslim world. Either way, the money keeps flowing to the military industrial complex (MIC,) while innocent people are slaughtered.
That’s what you get when arms corporations run your foreign policy. The MIC has created a whole ideology called neoconservatism that calls for America to dominate the world by force and to ally with Israel as our spearhead in doing so. Neoconservatives have taken over the Departments of State and Defense. Under its current occupant, they have the White House, too.
Neoconservatism gets you what we have now, a ruined economy, endless war, and ever-tighter restrictions on our freedoms. Right now, they are gearing up for war with China and Russia, spreading all kinds of propaganda on the evils of Putin and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP.) But those guys are not the ones threatening our freedoms or bankrupting our society. The MIC and its billionaire friends in finance and tech are the real killers. If we don’t stop them, they will turn the world into a bloodbath like Gaza. That is why patriotic Americans support Russia and China.
America first, or global domination?
While calling themselves patriotic Americans, our leaders carry out exactly the policies our founding fathers warned us against. George Washington, our first president, said “It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliance with any portion of the foreign world.” Washington knew how expensive and destructive wars could be and how wrapped up in war Europe was, and he made staying out of their wars the cornerstone of US policy.
Thomas Jefferson, the 3rd US president, wrote that armies should be as small as possible: “Standing armies are inconsistent with a people’s freedom” and “completely adverse” to the “spirit of this country.” He and his colleagues feared that the military would take over society, and they cut the military budget to prevent that from happening.
Other American leaders warned of the combined power of the military and large corporations. President Dwight D. Eisenhower, a WW2 hero and five-star general, said, “We must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.” The MIC was already so powerful at the time that he waited until his last week in office to give that warning, then retired without doing anything about it.
Our current leaders do the exact opposite of what the founders believed. We ally with Israel in all its wars — think Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria — and work constantly to find or create new allies who will fight China or Russia for us, as is happening in Ukraine, Georgia, and Taiwan. These alliances happen because the MIC, of which Israel is a vital part, wants them to happen.
Now the military power Washington and Eisenhower warned us about has grown to take over all America’s relations with the world. The answer to every problem is ‘send weapons’ and charge the costs to the US debt, while the profits go to companies like Boeing and Raytheon, and the bombs and bullets rain down on innocents in Gaza and wherever.
The US economic approach to the world is an endless series of sanctions and trade wars, which go against everything conservatives have always preached about free trade and open markets. Instead of ‘internationalism,’ the belief that all countries should develop in their own way and trade with each other, the US mandates ‘globalism,’ in which one worldwide economy will be run by the United State. Neither the wars, nor globalism, nor the sanctions work, except to enrich the MIC and impoverish or destroy everything else
How we got here
USA has been at war since we started in 1776. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, the founding fathers I quoted above, were wealthy slave owners and Indian killers. They wanted to keep out of Europe’s war culture so they could take over their own continent. First they warred against the Native Americans; then they moved on to the rest of the Americas, then to the Pacific Islands.
It wasn’t until WW2 destroyed its rivals that the US set out to dominate the world. The American dollar became the world’s dominant currency; the US circled the world with military bases. Their military trained proxy armies on four continents; financiers and intelligence agencies bought off local upper classes to run countries for them, but they were still competing with the socialist countries. They didn’t control the whole world.
The neoconservatives changed all that. Starting in the 1970s, they advocated for making the military bigger and more aggressive. They sought to confront and contain the Soviet Union, ultimately to overthrow it, not to live in peace with it. Neoconservatives almost unanimously swear by Israel and claim that what’s good for Israel is good for the USA. Strangely, they have gained more influence despite losing wars, destroying whole countries, setting off refugee crises in Europe and the Middle East, and making huge profits in the process.
How did these armchair warriors gain so much influence? Neoconservatism combines the military industry with the Israel lobby. The Lobby includes rich donors who fund politicians or their opponents, grassroots Jewish and evangelical Christian activists, think tanks, professors and media stars who shape the narrative around Israel and its wars. The military industry provides jobs in every Congressional district and has millions of dollars with which to influence politicians.
They’ve been able to keep their mindless militarism going because of the economic dominance of the US dollar. For 50 years, Saudi Arabia, the world’s leading oil producer, agreed to sell oil only in US dollars. So, every country needed dollars whether they wanted them or not. This rigged system has enabled the US to keep building up their military while their economy got weaker. But those days are over.
Why Russia and China Now
Why are the MIC and the neocons promoting war on Russia and China? They’re desperate. In the 2020s, the world is no longer willing to pay for the US war machine pointed at their heads. Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa formed the BRICS alliance to break free of the dollar and create a new world economy not subject to US control. Now up to eleven members, BRICS has applications from about 50 other countries wanting to join. A few weeks ago, Saudi Arabia announced they would now sell oil in currencies other than the US dollar, so US debt instruments will be a much harder sell going forward.
Russia and China are the countries standing up to US corporate dominance. They reject a world in which private profit sets government policy. They reject a system in which the US can simply rob other countries’ assets just because they are held in Western banks, as the US and UK have done to Russia, Afghanistan, and Venezuela among others. They are setting up alternative systems to work around US sanctions.
Russia and China do not want war. They say it over and over. They want a world where countries cooperate and compete economically without threat of being bombed or terrorized, a world in which colonizer states like Israel must respect the rights of indigenous peoples. They build up their militaries because the US empire constantly builds up theirs, as in Korea, Japan, and Eastern Europe. This, explains why we live with daily propaganda about how evil Putin is or how China wants to take over the world. Our leaders use propaganda to gain our consent for wars we do not want.
The MIC and the Israel Lobby have taken over our foreign policy, and they’re impoverishing us, putting us on the side of genocide, and will quite likely get us all killed. Is this what real Americans want? Is this ‘America first?’ Does this Make America Great Again? If not, why do nearly all American politicians including Donald Trump support them? I say all good Americans should support China and Russia and speak out against all attempts to destabilize and destroy them. Don’t believe the war propaganda.
As African-British analyst Adebayo Adeniran wrote, “We must use every medium — democratic or otherwise — available to us to subvert the oligarchs. It is a fight to the death and one we must win.”
