It’s not a safe homeland for Jews and was never intended to be

Have you noticed? The countries Israel attacks, such as Iran and Syria, and those they provoke the US and NATO to attack, such as Libya, Iraq, and Iran, are nearly always oil-rich nations which happen to be run by independently-minded leaders. Such governments’ leaders are targeted for assassination and execution — such as Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi, who believed in their nations’ sovereignty and thought that their nations’ oil reserves should benefit their own people. Leaders with such a mindset also supported the Palestinians’ right to have equality in their homeland.
Israel identified these leaders as enemies because of Palestine. America counted them as enemies, too, when they tried to create economies that didn’t accept total US control. Then the US could try to eliminate them, sometimes with Israeli help, as we just saw in Iran. How convenient for American corporations!
Similarly, how convenient for the military-industrial complex (MIC,) that Israel fights constant wars, employing weapons produced and sold by American war corporations!
How well the multinational system of destruction works! It’s almost as if domination of the oil lands was the US and UK’s intention for Israel — from the time when the Jewish state was only an intellectual concept.
As listed above, Western powers, mostly the US, NATO, and Israel, with occasional help from Turkey or Saudi Arabia, have overthrown independent governments and demolished whole Muslim societies. Western war-makers usually act on the pretext of spreading democracy, but always with the subtext of advancing Israeli interests.
Now, much of the Middle East lies in ruins, or exists under oppressive monarchies installed by the US-centered Empire. Israel is committing a sickening live-streamed genocide; about which almost no Arab leader dares do anything meaningful, and no European leader seems to care.
In approaching 19th Century European rulers, Zionist founders such as Theodore Herzl and Vladimir Jabotinsky framed their idea of a Jewish state as an outpost of European civilization in West Asia. They proudly described their planned state as a colonizing project.
When speaking to Jews, they claimed they were pursuing ‘Jewish self-determination,’ however, that was not the story they told the imperial powers whose support they needed. In those days, they called themselves colonizers, but in the present times, somehow, calling Israel a colonial state is ‘antisemitic’.
Really, does anyone believe European and American colonizers wanted to empower Jews? Does that make sense, after centuries of vicious antisemitism throughout Europe? No, it does not. Imperialists thought of Israel as a proxy they could use to enforce their own wishes on the oil lands. The “Jewish homeland” was merely a marketing scheme.
Zionist Jews signed up for this sick agenda, joining with the powers that had oppressed them. Zionists did commit acts of terror against the British, but they were British allies before and continued to be accepted as such, even after those attacks. They now reserve their terrorism for Arab civilians. Seeking to become a version of Europe’s racist powers has led to the Israel we see today, in which the vast majority of Israeli citizenry call for denying food to Palestinians and directly participate in their erasure.

How could Western governments participate in a Holocaust that discredits their very existence and all their narratives of freedom and democracy, a disaster from which their global reputation will never recover?
Even though this catastrophe may lead ultimately to their own downfall, the short answer is that they can’t help themselves. These crimes are what Israel was created to do. It’s who imperialists are. It has nothing to do with a safe place for Jewish people.
Don’t get swindled into thinking Israel’s wars seek to protect Jews, or that opposing them is antisemitic. These are imperial wars; this is an imperial genocide.
Aside from enriching the Military Industrial Complex (MIC), the destruction of Gaza has two goals: to gain more land for European and American Jewish ‘settlers,’ and cheap fossil fuel resources for Western corporations.
It is not a coincidence that you may not have heard that huge natural gas fields have been found under the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Gaza. Contracts have been signed to develop these fields but not made operational, because the Hamas-controlled government of Gaza would have profited, and Israel wouldn’t accept that. Now that there is no Gaza government, they can go ahead.
Just as in the overthrow of Iranian President Mossadegh in 1953 or the overthrow of the Syrian government in 2025, the Empire wants full control of the hydrocarbon riches. They don’t want to share the wealth; Israeli settlers don’t want to share the land, and the MIC doesn’t want the wars to stop. It’s a win-win for them, a Holocaust for the Palestinians, and a catastrophe for the entire world.
The only way I see this ending is if millions of people around the world rise up. We must demand comprehensive sanctions on Israel, a complete arms embargo, and large-scale dismantling of the MIC. Otherwise, surely the wars and horrors of the last two years will continue and worsen until there is nothing left.
