Re: Thoughts on More Compassion for Women and Girls
sum

Having had a recent very insightful conversation with someone who had been sexually abused as a young girl, and how her mid-wife had broached the subject with her around the time of the impending birth of her child, I find there could be concrete emotional healing that could affect women around the time of childbirth.

Specifically, the mid-wife had told her that birth can be a way to heal the trauma caused during her own childhood, and that the act of birth could empower her to take charge of her body.  That the mid-wife would work with her to help her take charge of her body during a time when a woman can feel very out of control (giving birth is very much an act of surrendering ...)

I find this AMAZINGLY POWERFUL.  Healing.

Might the message of mental medical care been woven within the request by Alexis Cohen.

Most sincerely,
