I'll come back to the discussion with further substantive response, but for now, three quick items:
1) Along with Iceland, we should look at the women's successful strike for peace in Liberia, 2003, leading to the election of a woman president in 2005: http://nvdatabase.swarthmore.edu/content/liberian-women-act-end-civil-war-2003
2) These messages go out by email to 146 members of Women's Committee subgroup of UNA-SF. Non-WC members of UNA-SF who visit the UNA-SF forum online do not see these messages in their list, but if they specify WC, then they can read everything we have posted. Since UNA-SF list is open, anyone could come in and read these messages. So the best we can say is that the messages are curtained off. I don't worry about it (;-).
3) The easiest way to get online is to go to the bottom of one of the InterMix emails you receive and click where it says "Subgroup: Women's Committee". You will already be logged in as yourself - therefore, do not forward these emails to others without removing the links that take you online.
