Yes, policy should encourage men and support women so that families have insentive to utilize maternity/paternity leave, as well as have acccess to child care when needed, in addition to the option of returning to the work force. If policy supports and encourages both parents to care for the children, and especially allows men the time to care for the children, then men have a greater opportunity to become more engaged with their children, women have opportunity to maintain their place in the workforce, and families have time to take on their important duties at home without jeopordizing their careers.
